It didn’t take Sweet & Tart long to develop a reputation for their delectable baked goods, not to mention a diverse menu, creative cocktails and fun environment. But it’s the holiday season, and their popular homemade pies take precedence right now.

Last year, amidst the COVID craze, they sold 328 pies for Thanksgiving. And they’re ready for more this time around.

The Dutch caramel apple pie has brown sugar-butter crumbles on top and comes generously drizzled with fresh caramel sauce.

The Key lime has a crispy finish and isn’t overly tart, with the vanilla sweet cream balancing things out perfectly. A lot of their customers liken it to their favorites in Key West, which is a definite compliment.

The Key lime is without question Sweet & Tart’s best seller. It has a crispy finish and isn’t overly tart, with the vanilla sweet cream balancing things out perfectly.

“A lot of our customers liken it to their favorites in Key West, which I take as a definite compliment,” says co-owner Meghan O’Neill. “It’s the best thing outside of the Keys.”

The pumpkin pie utilizes fresh pumpkins harvested by local Park Ridge residents from their reclaimed farm in Dixon, Illinois. Not only are the pies all natural, but they slow roast the pumpkins in the oven right at Sweet & Tart.

And don’t forget the French silk and mixed berry options, which are also available to spoil the relatives with over the holidays.

Bonus: Any of the pies can be ordered with cinnamon whipped cream or a Fireball whiskey whipped cream on the side to add a little extra flavor.

Don’t forget to email Sw****************@***il.com with your Thanksgiving pie orders by Nov. 17.

Pickup is available Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 22-24, of Thanksgiving week. Plenty of pastries, cookies and cakes are ready to tempt your sweet tooth as well.

Sweet and Tart is located at 112 S. Prospect Ave. in Park Ridge. 847-518-5555. SweetAndTartShoppe.com

Wondering what’s happening to the old @thalaivasin Wondering what’s happening to the old @thalaivasindiankitchen space on Main Street? During a recent lunch, we were filled in on the plans for Mandram, which means “a place where people gather.”

Operated by the owners of the popular Thalaiva’s, we’re told to expect an assortment of small sandwiches and kati rolls (a type Indian wrap with butter chicken or chicken tikka masala inside), as well as customized fresh juices blended in front of you and milkshakes made of dried fruit and nuts.

Keep an eye out for the upcoming fall issue of The Real Park Ridge for more details about Mandram, opening in September.

The southwest chicken salad at @howardstreetinn

Keeping it light: This is not your normal sports bar menu. Far from it, actually, and it’s easy to fall in love with a new dish each time you stop by. The menu is that robust. Perfect for summer, in our mind, is the southwest chicken salad that has grilled chicken breast topped with fresh pico de gallo, corn and grated cheddar served over a bed of chopped romaine lettuce — all packed in a crispy baked tortilla shell. Throw on a little spicy ranch dressing and pair with a cold draft beer and you’re set. And pretty guilt free.

And did we mention Howard Street has arguably the best daily drink specials in the area?
