Q: Describe your family connection to Park Ridge.

A: We moved to Park Ridge in 2001 because my husband was working as an ER physician at Lutheran General Hospital. We loved the close proximity to the city and sense of community. We raised all three of our kids here and had peace of mind knowing they could ride their bikes down the street to see friends and walk to school. Our children are still friends with many of the kids they went to grammar school with.

Everyone has a different opinion on what looks beautiful, but in the end, it’s our job to advise you on the aesthetic result that will stand the test of time.

Q: Tell us about your gorgeous new space. We’re guessing some excitement and relief combined.

A: I had driven by the space many times during the Covid lockdown, and wondered what lucky business would end up there. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the percentage of growth we experienced in 2021, and that business would be mine.

The space was definitely a labor of love, and the buildout was not without its challenges. We had to pivot many times due to the pandemic-induced lack of building materials and furniture. We hired designer Kristen Massuci, who had experience with commercial spaces and was able to lay out each treatment room and retail areas based on our needs.

We wanted to create an elevated space that Park Ridge was lacking. With the recent influx of families moving from the city, we felt it was a timely addition to our town. I started injecting friends and family in a one-room office, and have graduated to a 3,500-square-foot beautiful office. To say that I am grateful is an understatement.

Q: The most important three things to remember when it comes to skin care and skin health are:

A: 1.) Stay out of the sun. 2.) Stay out of the sun 3.) Stay out … you get the idea. Sun damage and smoking are the two worst offenders causing collagen destruction and age spots. If you do nothing else, wear sunscreen every day.

We are strong believers in medical-grade skincare. I was the first one to spend exorbitant amounts of money on over-the-counter skincare, which never produced results. Your skin may require a period of adjustment when transitioning to more active ingredients, but if you stick with it, you’ll have the best skin of your life.

Q: A specialty for Beautifully New is highly-individualized, safe and effective skin rejuvenation and cosmetic treatment options. How have you seen your patients’ confidence improve throughout the treatment process?

A: We have many patients who were motivated to come in due to various life circumstances (i.e divorces, break-ups, job transitions, etc.).

They may have been at their lowest point when they walked in, and to see them smile again after a treatment means everything to me.

Q: How important is it to produce subtle, natural-looking results?

A: This is our No. 1 philosophy and actually incorporated into our mission statement. Everyone has a different opinion on what looks beautiful, but in the end, it’s our job to advise you on the aesthetic result that will stand the test of time.

Q: What’s a popular trend right now that you’re offering?

A: Thankfully, there is now a heavy focus on regenerative, aesthetic treatments. The human body is blessed with an incredible potential to repair and rejuvenate itself through the intricate and complicated interaction of stem cells, their specific signaling peptides and growth factor.

We can now use these growth factors to produce collagen, thicken the dermis, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and improve skin texture.

We offer PDO threads, Sculptra, PRF (platelet-rich fibrinogen) and microneedling — all of which use this technology to restore volume, improve skin texture and produce collagen.

Q: How would you describe your team at Beautifully New?

A: We are a very close-knit group that understands that the No. 1 goal is to execute an amazing experience for our patients.

I always knew that creating a welcoming atmosphere would be crucial to fulfill this goal. My team is the reason our patients consider us to be a home away from home.

Q: Finish this sentence: At Beautifully New, we can help you…

A: Achieve pleasing, natural results without an unnatural appearance. We use subtle approaches that are focused on maximizing the inherent contour, skin texture, tone and tightness. We give top priority to patient safety and comfort while adopting proven techniques to mitigate the risks and side effects of cosmetic treatments.

Wondering what’s happening to the old @thalaivasin Wondering what’s happening to the old @thalaivasindiankitchen space on Main Street? During a recent lunch, we were filled in on the plans for Mandram, which means “a place where people gather.”

Operated by the owners of the popular Thalaiva’s, we’re told to expect an assortment of small sandwiches and kati rolls (a type Indian wrap with butter chicken or chicken tikka masala inside), as well as customized fresh juices blended in front of you and milkshakes made of dried fruit and nuts.

Keep an eye out for the upcoming fall issue of The Real Park Ridge for more details about Mandram, opening in September.

The southwest chicken salad at @howardstreetinn

Keeping it light: This is not your normal sports bar menu. Far from it, actually, and it’s easy to fall in love with a new dish each time you stop by. The menu is that robust. Perfect for summer, in our mind, is the southwest chicken salad that has grilled chicken breast topped with fresh pico de gallo, corn and grated cheddar served over a bed of chopped romaine lettuce — all packed in a crispy baked tortilla shell. Throw on a little spicy ranch dressing and pair with a cold draft beer and you’re set. And pretty guilt free.

And did we mention Howard Street has arguably the best daily drink specials in the area?
