Q: How is the real estate market looking both in the short and long term?

A: The real-estate market the last six months has been booming. I predict a strong last few months of the market this year since the spring market started a little later. Long term, I think this good market will last, especially if they can keep the interest rates so low.

Q: What about Park Ridge? Are you noticing any particular housing trends right now in the area?

A: Park Ridge is always a very popular suburb because of its location, great schools and the community. We are seeing a lot of turnover of older homes that have been renovated, as well as new-construction homes being built again. Home offices are obviously a big thing right now, as well as finished basements, large family rooms and nice outdoor spaces. With everyone spending more time at home these days, these are on the top of the list for buyers.

Q: What are a few solid pieces of advice you would have for first-time buyers?

A: Don’t be afraid of doing the work. Finding a good fixer-upper can end up being one of the best investments you will ever make, bringing you instant equity. Be smart about it and involve professionals and contractors who can guide you through the process.

Q: What are a few curb-appeal tips you would give to a potential seller to liven up a property?

A: Curb appeal is always an important factor in selling your home. If you are getting ready to put your home on the market, make sure your landscaping is cleaned up and looking good. Dress up the entry way of your home and make it inviting for buyers when they come for showings. Having nice outdoor spaces in the front or back yard is a big selling point in today’s market.
