We asked active locals to share some of their favorite businesses and things in the area:

We were working on our floor, in stages, by removing carpet and refinishing the hardwood. To accomplish this, we needed help moving large pieces of furniture from one room to another over a period of a few weeks. We called Park Ridge Pickups three separate times to help us, and they did a great job all three times. They are very responsive on Facebook messenger, and in one case, they came out to do the job on the same day. Once a piece of furniture was moved to the right location, they put it back together without even being asked. We will be calling them again for future jobs. We highly recommend them.

— Christina Niklas

Balloons by Laura

Just wanted to give a shout out to Laura Scaletta with Balloons by Laura. She’s a local balloon artist who does not disappoint! She did a phenomenal job on our gender reveal arch. Highly recommend her!

— Christina Dwyer

Playtime Pup Ranch for the win! We’ve boarded our dogs there many times. They do doggie daycare during the day, and a staff member stays overnight. No crates/cages! They can sleep on a big bed at night, or you can bring their own dog bed. And then you can watch them on the live camera during the day.

Here’s a vote for Dr. Juckett at Juckett Eye Care Center. He is very kind, takes his time with the eye exam and really listens when I have any questions or concerns.

— Tony C.

Hay Caramba is our go-t0 Mexican spot for the atmosphere, great food and margaritas! For tacos, Taco Maya in Niles is hands down my favorite.

— Abby Taylor

After Mama Mia went out of business, we tried so many pizza places. Annetti’s has great thin crust and stuffed pizza, and their prices are super reasonable. So glad we found them!

— Cheryl Barrel

Sebastian Sedrowicz (773-704-2439) installed seamless gutters on our house at a fraction of what other roofers charge. He is awesome and super meticulous.

— Scott Musial

I attended a birthday party in the private party room at Tavern on the Point, and it was great! The waitstaff was very accommodating, friendly and attentive.

I want to give a shoutout for a delicious breakfast at Lola’s Diner in Park Ridge on Busse Highway. My friends and I have always enjoyed their friendly service and wonderful menu. Our go-to place for birthday breakfasts!

— Lisa Curran Wright

Tavern on the Point

I attended a birthday party in the private party room at Tavern on the Point, and it was great! The waitstaff was very accommodating, friendly and attentive. We never felt forgotten. Everything was clean and the best part was the food/drinks. It’s really good, and I recommend the French martini.

— Lauren Szymanski

Use Ewald Interiors for blind installation. Everything is next level. Way more affordable and so easy to work with. Plus, they gave me free design help for my whole home. It’s one of the better businesses around!

— Ashley Christensen

Shout out to the City of Park Ridge for making the permit process so easy for block parties this summer, and Jumpstyles Inc. for providing a perfect bounce house for all the kids in the neighborhood. About $300 for a giant, clean bounce house with a slide and basketball hoop inside for six hours. Setup is super efficient — and they even gave us an extra hour to use it.

Clancy from Modern Masters Painting was so easy to work with, honest, responsive and timely. High-quality work and excellent value for the price. … We’re already booking another big job with them next month.

I highly recommend Modern Masters Painting for all your painting needs. Clancy is a Park Ridge local, and his crew is amazing. We got quotes from over a handful of contractors, but very few were as professional and respectful as he was. Clancy was so easy to work with, honest, responsive and timely. High-quality work and excellent value for the price. He won’t charge the “Park Ridge surcharge” for jobs. We’re already booking another big job with them next month.

Edie Boutique and Marigold are great places in Uptown Park Ridge to get gifts for family and friends or housewarming gifts.

— Karla Cantu

Nonna Silvia’s has been a go-to for my family since they opened. I get the pappardelle pasta with basil, goat cheese and mushrooms. Not only are they very accommodating, but the food is always delicious.

Wondering what’s happening to the old @thalaivasin Wondering what’s happening to the old @thalaivasindiankitchen space on Main Street? During a recent lunch, we were filled in on the plans for Mandram, which means “a place where people gather.”

Operated by the owners of the popular Thalaiva’s, we’re told to expect an assortment of small sandwiches and kati rolls (a type Indian wrap with butter chicken or chicken tikka masala inside), as well as customized fresh juices blended in front of you and milkshakes made of dried fruit and nuts.

Keep an eye out for the upcoming fall issue of The Real Park Ridge for more details about Mandram, opening in September.

The southwest chicken salad at @howardstreetinn

Keeping it light: This is not your normal sports bar menu. Far from it, actually, and it’s easy to fall in love with a new dish each time you stop by. The menu is that robust. Perfect for summer, in our mind, is the southwest chicken salad that has grilled chicken breast topped with fresh pico de gallo, corn and grated cheddar served over a bed of chopped romaine lettuce — all packed in a crispy baked tortilla shell. Throw on a little spicy ranch dressing and pair with a cold draft beer and you’re set. And pretty guilt free.

And did we mention Howard Street has arguably the best daily drink specials in the area?
