Danley’s Garages

Local recommendations include Danley’s Garages, the Greek chicken and gyros from Mully’s Grill, achieving whole body health with Metta Perspective Acupuncture, financial advice from Shawn Cook and Advocate Wealth Management, great denim options at 2 Sisters Boutique and Pennybird, and a trio of tasty brunch options

We bought our new house in July and knew we wanted a garage. … We met with a Danley’s Garages salesperson, and they were very detailed and did a great job explaining options and what to expect in the building process. During the permit, concrete pour and build, they would check in with us and give us updates on where things were and what to expect, which helped ease our concerns. They were very on point with the timeline, and I am happy to say our garage was finished at the beginning of November after about six weeks. We would 100 percent recommend them and be very confident they’d do a great job. We are now in the process of insulating the garage and turning part of it into a workout space.

Just went to the new Laundry World on Northwest Highway with three big comforters to wash and dry. Very impressed. Super bright and clean — and fast! They have different sized washers too, which is nice. I’m so happy we have such a nice place so close now.

At Renata’s Organic Skincare, I was transported into a world of care and comfort that was unmatched by previous spa experiences.

We used Dryer Vent Wizard of Mount Prospect and Park Ridge, and they did a great job replacing our outside vent that was not working. Local company with online scheduling.

— MMG

I had heard from friends that Renata’s Organic Skincare is a great place to relax and reset. … I had the scrub, wrap and massage by Anna, as well as a facial by Kate, and was transported into a world of care and comfort that was unmatched by previous spa experiences. I have traveled quite extensively but nothing quite matched my experience at Renata’s Organics. I plan to visit again soon. It doesn’t get better than this.

Had a great carryout dinner at Mully’s Grill recently. If you are looking for your “new Wally’s” in our town, this is it, but even better in my opinion. We had the ribs (my new favorite), Greek chicken and gyros. Plus, my new favorite side dish is the Greek Fries (drizzled with olive oil and crumbled feta). Highly recommend.

I started working with Nick Draus of Draus and Associates for personal and business tax filing a few months ago and have been beyond happy. They offer so much more than simply tax filing. They give great guidance on strategic business and tax planning, great communication and follow up, and they are local to Park Ridge. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

Lawrence Fish Market on the northwest side of Chicago has the greatest sushi of my life, and it’s also crazy cheap!

— S.C.

The all-you-can-eat sushi for just $30.95 at Poke Burrito in Park Ridge is the best meal deal in the area.

— T.K.

Easy Street’s diner burger

The best burger — 100 percent is Easy Street Pizza in Park Ridge and Small Cheval in Rosemont. Easy Street has it on special Tuesday nights!

— Silvia C.

In Oak Park there is a place that’s called Crepas Calichi that is a super cute girly cafe, and their little mocktails and food were such a treat for my daughter.

I made an appointment with Dr. Dawn at Metta Perspective, and in two weeks, my issue was gone and never came back. That started me on a journey for whole body health at her clinic. Even my nervous system slowed down significantly, which I thought would be impossible.

I started with Dr. Dawn at Metta Perspective Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine in Niles a little over two years ago. It began with my fingers tingling, where an ortho doctor wanted to cut a nerve. Instead, I made an appointment with Dawn, and in two weeks it was gone and never came back. That started me on a journey for whole body health at her clinic. Even my nervous system slowed down significantly, which I thought would be impossible. Dermatology too. Amazing results!

— Donna S.

Sweet Cafe in Jefferson Park

For family brunches, I like Brunch Café in Niles and Sweet Café in Jefferson Park. If I am meeting up with my girls, then Café Touché and their bottomless mimosas is the way to go.

—Martha G.

Dermani Medspa in Park Ridge is wonderful and has great pricing, as well as new client specials for your first visit. They also have a Botox membership program.

— Casey H.

Reyes Steakhouse is amazing, and Carlos is an outstanding chef. Highly recommend the filet with the blue cheese or horseradish crust. The scallop and mushroom risotto should not be missed, and the lobster ravioli is also a winner. You really can’t go wrong there.

— Fred S.

2 Sisters Boutique

I have my eye on a cute pair of wide-leg dark denim jeans in the window at 2 Sisters Boutique on Prospect Avenue. They have a great selection of styles. Also, Pennybird Boutique in Edison Park has a wall of jeans, and they are cute and reasonable.

— A.S.

For a financial advisor, Shawn Cook with Advocate Wealth Management is such a great person to work with and so knowledgeable. He really takes the time to listen and understand what your goals are. He’s also very good at pointing out things you would have never thought of. Definitely scheduled a meet and greet with him.

— Ana L.

We just had the entire interior of our house painted by Chiovari Painting and couldn’t be happier with the results. If you’re looking for quality work at a reasonable price from a reliable painter, look no further.

— Mike C.

My house looks brand new! I am so happy I went with Northwind Exteriors to install a new roof, gutters and James Hardie siding. They did an amazing and high-quality job. I have received several compliments from neighbors on the new look.

Wondering what’s happening to the old @thalaivasin Wondering what’s happening to the old @thalaivasindiankitchen space on Main Street? During a recent lunch, we were filled in on the plans for Mandram, which means “a place where people gather.”

Operated by the owners of the popular Thalaiva’s, we’re told to expect an assortment of small sandwiches and kati rolls (a type Indian wrap with butter chicken or chicken tikka masala inside), as well as customized fresh juices blended in front of you and milkshakes made of dried fruit and nuts.

Keep an eye out for the upcoming fall issue of The Real Park Ridge for more details about Mandram, opening in September.

The southwest chicken salad at @howardstreetinn

Keeping it light: This is not your normal sports bar menu. Far from it, actually, and it’s easy to fall in love with a new dish each time you stop by. The menu is that robust. Perfect for summer, in our mind, is the southwest chicken salad that has grilled chicken breast topped with fresh pico de gallo, corn and grated cheddar served over a bed of chopped romaine lettuce — all packed in a crispy baked tortilla shell. Throw on a little spicy ranch dressing and pair with a cold draft beer and you’re set. And pretty guilt free.

And did we mention Howard Street has arguably the best daily drink specials in the area?
