What you do for a living: I am the owner of and board-certified orthodontist at MPowered Smiles Orthodontics (137 Vine Ave.) here in Park Ridge. I design and create beautiful smiles for both kids and adults. I am on a mission to empower my patients to be their authentic selves and to smile with confidence.

How long you’ve lived here: My family has been part of our incredible Park Ridge community for four years.

At MPowered, I design and create beautiful smiles for both kids and adults. I am on a mission to empower my patients to be their authentic selves and to smile with confidence.

What you like best about Park Ridge: I love the blend of small-town charm with the accessibility of city amenities. The Uptown area, with its vibrant restaurant scene, iconic Pickwick Theater and numerous events organized by the city, Park District and Chamber of Commerce, always makes me proud to be a part of this community. The best part is running into my patients and their families as I enjoy everything Park Ridge has to offer with my family.

Sea bass at Patina Wine Bar

Best meal you’ve had recently: The small plates at Patina Wine Bar are absolutely delicious! If you love a mixture of sweet and savory ingredients, then you have to try the roasted black grape crostini and caramelized peach crostini.

Favorite restaurant in the area: Pazzi Di Pizza is one restaurant the entire family will say yes to every single time, regardless of whether we are dining in or ordering out. They have numerous tasty dishes, but their pizza is the closest to authentic Italian pizza we’ve found in the area.

Daniel’s Charcuterie

Favorite “hidden gem” restaurant: Daniel’s Charcuterie is truly a hidden gem I frequently share with others. It offers tasty artisan meats and cheeses in a cozy, intimate setting and welcoming atmosphere. During live music events is my favorite time to visit.

Best bar to grab a drink or to catch the game: Holt’s on Prospect Avenue. The service, selection of drinks and food are all excellent. While I’ve tried most of the items on their menu, the cheese curds, beet salad and fish tacos are my most frequent picks.

A great night out with friends usually includes… starting with drinks and food at Patina Wine Bar, followed by stand-up comedy at Zanies Comedy Club in Rosemont.

A winter day is well spent ice skating with the family at Oakton Ice Arena, followed by a warm tea at TeaLula and a stroll through the Park Ridge Public Library.

The best way to spend a Saturday in the winter: A winter day is well spent ice skating with family and friends at Oakton Ice Arena, followed by a warm tea at TeaLula and a stroll through the Park Ridge Public Library picking out books for my kids.

What’s something you look forward to every winter?
The Park Ridge holiday lights. The way the city lights up is magical, and it really brings the holiday spirit to life.

Raffia

Favorite local store or best shopping area: Uptown Park Ridge. The variety of shops and boutiques offers something for everyone, from fashion to home decorations. Some of my favorites are Sooo Cute Boutique, Raffia Gifts and Marigold.

The tours offered by the Park Ridge Historical Society are incredibly insightful and a great way to connect with our town’s past.

Secret spot: The nature walk at Wildwood Nature Center is my secret spot. It’s a peaceful escape right in the middle of our bustling suburb.

Underrated activity in the area: The historical tours offered by the Park Ridge Historical Society are incredibly insightful and a great way to connect with our town’s past.

Weekend getaway spot: Door County in Wisconsin. It’s perfect for those who enjoy hiking, biking and exploring the scenic coastline of Lake Michigan. It also offers a rich cultural experience with its unique local arts, delicious cuisine and historic lighthouses.

What have you heard great things about but have yet to try?
I’ve heard rave reviews about the brunch at Lola’s Diner. It’s on my list to try next, especially their famous pancakes!
