New location: A longtime staple in town for finding that perfect something — either for a loved one or yourself — Raffia has settled in quite nicely to its new location next to the Pickwick Theater. The window displays and bright, welcoming interior are a draw, as is the wide variety of home decor, frames, candles, fragrances, handbags, jewelry, baby items and more. New inventory arrives frequently, so it’s never the same show twice.

Handbags and jewelry to lift your spirits
Raffia offers a nice array of stylish and functional handbags, ranging from wallets and clutches to small purses, crossbody bags and larger totes. The highlights include options from Hammit, a company that guarantees zippers, rivets and interior hardware for life, and Louenhide, known for its use of vegan leather.

I’ve always loved handbags. They just make you happy, and they’re always going to be there for you, like an old friend. — Emily Larson

“I’ve always loved handbags,” says owner Emily Larson with a knowing smile. “They just make you happy, and they’re always going to be there for you, like an old friend. Seriously, come in to talk handbags with me. You’ll definitely find something you like.”

Don’t forget Raffia’s selection of necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets. Particularly hot right now are the adjustable and washable French selections from Les Interchangeables, perfect to accessorize any outfit.

Also, Qudo’s interchangeable rings and necklaces, which arrived earlier this spring, allow you to create your own combinations with a variety of colorful crystal toppers.

Touché’s version of this Parisian staple is a thick 12-ounce NY strip or eight-ounce filet, cooked to your liking with a bordelaise (wine-and-marrow-based brown sauce) or au poivre (bold, creamy peppercorn pan sauce), all with a pad of butter melting over the top as it arrives at your table. Worth mentioning, too, that Wednesdays are half-price bottles of wine at Touche, and martinis are $8 on Thursdays.
