Grilled chicken sandwich with melted mozzarella and green pesto between toasted bread slices with grill marks

The new Di Marko’s All-Day Cafe offers an expansive food menu

Dimitri Markos was meant to own his own coffee shop. Just ask him yourself. “All my life I’ve been working in this industry, since I was 16 and mopping the floor. … God sent me to do this,” he says with a smile. And judging by the regular crowds at his new European-inspired cafe on Main Street in Park Ridge, he isn’t wrong.

But not to be lost amidst the lattes, muffins and warm hospitality is a surprisingly robust food menu with something for everyone. Examples include avocado toast, protein smoothie bowls, made-to-order crepes, bagel sandwiches, paninis, salads, Greek pastries, loaded mezze boards and more.

One favorite of ours is the chicken pesto panini with grilled chicken breast, oven-roasted tomato and fresh basil pesto on a ciabatta roll.

What is your favorite restaurant in the area?

@jkussymortgage : “I don’t necessarily have one favorite, as I go to different places for different experiences. Happy hour at @fireandwinege is a great deal, and the outdoor space is fantastic. The loaded nachos at @donjuanscantina are perfect to split, especially with one of their hand-shaken margaritas. And the salmon skin sushi rolls at @blufish_parkridge (not on the menu — you have to ask for it) is one of my favorites. Too many great choices to pick just one.”
