New Spider-Man exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry

Step into the exciting world of one of the most beloved superheroes of all time in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing — The Exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry. In this immersive exhibit, you’ll see rare comic books, view props and costumes from your favorite Spider-Man movies, explore cutting-edge interactive installations and take photos with life-size statues of your favorite characters like Miles Morales, Ghost-Spider and, of course, Spider-Man himself.

Superfans can dive deep into the evolution of Spider-Man from his first comic book appearance to the latest TV, movie and video games, while kids of all ages can get hands-on with drawing activities and more.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing — The Exhibition is open through February 8, 2026, and requires an additional timed-entry ticket purchase along with general admission. Advance purchase is strongly recommended, as this exhibit can sell out on busy days. 5700 S. Major upgrades at Raging Waves waterpark

Raging Waves, which happens to be Illinois’ largest waterpark, has made a host of major upgrades for the 2025 season, including the massive stadium-style AquaVision video wall at the wave pool, upgraded private VIP cabanas, brand-new 500-person shaded picnic pavilions for group events, enhanced food and beverage offerings, and expanded park hours.

The AquaVision video wall is a massive, stadium-sized LED video screen — two stories tall and as wide as a tennis court — on the back wall of the Barrier Reef Wave Pool. This exciting new feature brings a fresh burst of visual energy with movies, music videos, and other interactive experiences. To improve guest experience, more tubes and family rafts have been added at various attractions, speeding up lines and increasing capacity. Additionally, new special events for both families and adults are on the way for 2025, offering even more ways to enjoy the park.

In addition to new food items, the park is also introducing multiple new VIP cabanas, complete with a dedicated check-in desk, while refreshing existing cabanas throughout the park with premium furniture, ceiling fans and power outlets. An upgraded audio system has created a more lively and festive atmosphere for all to enjoy as well.

Mountain View Adventure Center in Des Plaines

This is a bit of a hidden gem with the Des Plaines Park District, but one that we enjoy every time we visit because it offers a little something for everyone. Our focus is always playing miniature golf on this nicely laid out course. It’s well-maintained, perfect for kids, spacious, clean and surrounded by walking paths, trees, shrubs and waterfalls, which offers a bit of a calming effect to combat your busy summer schedule. The small pavilion on the course grounds looks like a good option to host a child’s birthday party or group outing too.

Mountain View is easy to get to, and for only $5 more, you can play a second round. And don’t forget the batting cages, skate & bike park and snack bar, allowing you to truly make a day of it. Bonus: It’s open late, till 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday. 510 E. Algonquin Road in Des Plaines. DPParks.org
